Ukiah Civic Center – In 1922 Myrl R. Crane built Ukiah School with his son Frank serving as water boy.  In the early 50’s Frank M. Crane worked on renovating the school.  In 1987 Frank M. Crane and his son Douglas F. Crane were awarded the job of building the Ukiah Civic Center on the site of the old Yokayo School.  During the investigation into possible cost savings for the city it was discovered that many of the original walls from the 1922 construction could be integrated into the design.  This move also allowed for the preservation of the distinctive entryway from the original design.  All of the balustrade and railings were manufactured by Crane of Ukiah at our manufacturing and assembly facility with the help of Doug’s son Eric, thus beginning the fourth generation of builders in the family.
